Receeto vs QuickBooks Self-Employed (now Solopreneur)

QuickBooks Self-Employed was rebranded to QuickBooks Solopreneur, and it's a genuinely more complete tool than Receeto - full bookkeeping, mileage, and tax estimates. Here's when that's worth the subscription, and when it isn't.

By Mohit Gaddam·Updated Jul 4, 2026

If you've searched for "QuickBooks Self-Employed," you may have noticed Intuit renamed it to QuickBooks Solopreneur. Same audience, similar product. It's worth being upfront: Solopreneur does more than Receeto does. It's a real bookkeeping tool that estimates your quarterly taxes and tracks mileage - Receeto is deliberately just a receipt scanner and expense tracker. The honest question isn't "which is better" but "how much bookkeeping do you actually want to do."

Where QuickBooks Solopreneur genuinely wins

If you want your quarterly estimated taxes calculated for you, or you drive for work and want mileage logged automatically via GPS, that's real functionality Receeto simply doesn't offer - it isn't trying to be a bookkeeping platform. The TurboTax integration at filing time is also a legitimate time-saver if you already file there. For someone who wants one subscription to handle receipts, mileage, and taxes end-to-end, Solopreneur is a reasonable, mature choice.

Where Receeto fits better

If your actual need is simpler - you want receipts scanned accurately and exported cleanly to hand to your own accountant, without paying a recurring subscription for tax-estimate features you may not trust to replace a professional anyway - Receeto is the lighter, cheaper, more private option. Nothing is uploaded to a cloud service; the on-device AI reads each receipt locally, and a one-time purchase replaces an ongoing monthly cost.

Pick QuickBooks Solopreneur if...

You want automatic mileage tracking, quarterly tax estimates, and a TurboTax handoff - and you're fine with a monthly subscription and cloud storage.

Pick Receeto if...

You just want receipts scanned and organized accurately, prefer your data stays on-device, and would rather pay once than subscribe monthly for features you won't use.

On pricing: QuickBooks Solopreneur is a monthly subscription that Intuit has repriced more than once during the Self-Employed → Solopreneur transition - check Intuit's current pricing page for the exact number before deciding.
