Privacy Policy
Receeto is built with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. We believe your financial data is deeply personal and should stay entirely under your control.
The short version
Receeto processes everything on your device. Your receipts, expenses, and financial data never leave your phone. There are no accounts and no tracking. The only things that go online are verifying a Pro purchase and sending a crash report if the app crashes, and neither includes your financial data.
This policy explains what data Receeto does and does not collect, and how your information stays private.
Information We Do Not Collect
Receeto does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number
- Receipt images or any data extracted from your receipts
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Contacts, photos (beyond receipts you choose to scan), or other device data
- Usage analytics, behavioral data, or browsing activity
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
Receeto does not require you to create an account or sign in. There is no registration process and no personal data is ever requested.
On-Device Processing
All of Receeto's AI-powered features run entirely on your device:
- Receipt scanning and OCR uses Apple's on-device machine learning frameworks
- Data extraction (merchant name, amount, date, category) is processed locally
- Expense categorization happens on-device using built-in models
- Spending analytics are computed from your locally-stored data
No internet connection is required for any of these features. Receeto works fully offline.
Apple Services
As an iOS app distributed through the Apple App Store, the following may apply:
- Crash reports: Apple may collect anonymous crash reports and diagnostics to help improve app stability. You can opt out of this in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements on your device.
- App Store: Apple handles all App Store transactions and interactions according to Apple's Privacy Policy.
These data collection activities are governed by Apple, not Receeto. Apple does not share your name, email address, or payment details with us.
Crash Reports
If Receeto crashes, a crash report is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, so the bug can be found and fixed. A crash report contains technical details only: where in the code the crash happened, the app version, the iOS version, the device model, and a short list of the app screens and actions just before the crash. It never contains your receipts, amounts, merchants, notes or anything you type, and it is not linked to your identity. Receeto does not use Sentry for anything other than crashes.
Receeto uses no usage-analytics or session-recording services. Versions up to 1.2.5 also included Microsoft Clarity, a usage-analytics service; it was removed in version 1.2.6.
Purchases & Refunds
Receeto Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple processes every payment. To confirm that a purchase is valid and unlock Pro on your device, Receeto uses RevenueCat, a purchase verification service. RevenueCat receives:
- A random, anonymous identifier created by the app, not linked to your name or Apple Account
- Your purchase history for Receeto (which product, when, the price and currency, and the App Store country)
- Your plan type (free, yearly, or lifetime) and the plan you picked during setup
- Basic technical details needed to verify a purchase, such as app version and iOS version
RevenueCat never receives your receipts, expenses, categories, or anything you scan or type into the app.
Refund requests. Refunds are requested from and decided by Apple, not Receeto. When you ask Apple for a refund, Apple may ask us for information about the purchase to help it decide. By purchasing Receeto Pro, you consent to us sharing the following with Apple through RevenueCat in that case: whether Pro was successfully delivered to your device, that a free version of the app was available to try before buying, and our refund preference for the request. We do not share how you use the app, and the final decision always rests with Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. See our Refund Policy for how refund requests are handled.
Data Storage & Security
- All your data is stored locally on your device in the app's private, sandboxed storage
- Your data is protected by iOS's built-in security measures, including device passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, and hardware encryption
- Uninstalling Receeto permanently deletes all data stored by the app
- If you use iCloud device backups, your standard backup may include Receeto's app data per your iCloud settings. This is managed by Apple's iCloud service, not by Receeto
Children's Privacy
Since Receeto does not collect personal information from any user, there is no special treatment needed for children's data. The app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 or any other age group.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be noted in App Store update descriptions.
